Summer is winding down. During Sunday School, Hailey, Jamie, and Oscar showed pictures and shared about their overseas trips. Hailey even brought some food items for us to try like rambutan and a spicy sauce she made with lime juice.
After church, Tyler and Hailey headed off to eat out and celebrate their nine month anniversary. The rest of us headed home and spent a relaxing afternoon vegging in front of the TV.
Later that evening, Jordan and I taught Hailey and Tyler how to play Catan. It's a much longer game and more complicated when you add just one more player. Greg, Jordan, and I had played several times before. With four, your places to build are limited. After a fierce competition, Hailey ended up winning. Tyler and Jordan would have won on their next play. I was no where close.
We had to interrupt the game (it was still going to be another thirty minutes or more) to do the fireworks since Tyler would need to leave on Monday. We did lots of sparklers and the two cakes we had saved. Then we spent time looking at the stars. Tyler doesn't get to see the stars like we do in Houston! Another advantage to living in the country. Put off fireworks any time you want to and look up at the beautiful stars. Not to mention it's quieter.
As usual after fireworks, Hailey suggested we needed ice cream. Unfortunately, we had none. Sonic and Dollar General had already closed too. We had some whipping cream and milk left from the week though, so we decided to make our own, along with Rice Krispy Treats. By the time the ice cream and our game were finally finished, it was 11:30 and Greg headed to bed. The rest of us stayed up. Jordan disappeared, but Hailey, Tyler and I watched Enola Holmes 3. Well....Tyler and I finished it. Hailey will need to rewatch the last fifteen minutes or so. She zonked out. That was probably my last time to stay up that late. Summer is ending. <sigh>
