Jake and Marissa welcomed their first child into the world today: Madeline Grace Noel. They're going to call her Maddie. She was 7 pounds, 2 ounces, which is a great size. Marissa was due February 9, and they had been telling her that Maddie was on the small side. However, they didn't want her to go past 41 weeks, so they induced her starting Wednesday afternoon. Maddie didn't come until about 24 hours later! It took awhile for the induction to work.
In the meantime, there was a big question on whether or not they would be going home with Maddie or to an Airbnb. When we had all of the cold weather last month, Houston had one night of freezing. The next morning, Marissa and Jake didn't have water. Nor did it thaw later in the day. Or the next day. Or the next. For some reason, they lost their water. The super couldn't figure out any reason in the house. The city couldn't see any reason outside of the house. It reached the point that the city was telling them they would have to fill out paperwork to get water run to the house like it was a new construction - totally ignoring the fact that the building has had water for years. Everyone else in the complex had water, just not Marissa and Jake. I don't know if it was because their townhouse is the one on the end or what. No idea. Anyway, after two weeks, the property management put them up in an Airbnb. Luckily, the day they were to go home from the hospital, a plumber was at their property and managed to get the water working.
On a side note, when I shared the prayer request that Marissa was nine months pregnant and they had no water, our trumpet player said, "So...she hasn't had the baby yet but her water already broke??" LOL He is quite the comedian.
